baseball

Summer is fast approaching, another school year is drawing to a close, and it’s baseball time again.  With their brightly colored jerseys, boys fresh to the game resemble lost little chicks at times . . . and papa roosters proudly pass on their knowledge and skills . . .

Batter up . . .

watch

Cover up your seeds

Pray the sun and rain will last

Keep cutting back the weeds

Watch for snakes in the grass

razing to raise

Several years ago when I was experiencing some of the worst heart-pain of my life, I would drive to the local Sonic, park, and get a large iced tea.  As I sat there, I watched the demolition of an old dorm across the street.  For weeks I watched as a wrecking ball slammed into this building over and over again until it was reduced to a pile of rubble.  I remember thinking “that’s my life right now”.  Eventually the dump trucks hauled away all the old building material and the land was made into something entirely new, a parking lot.

Now I am witnessing another large collection of buildings being razed . . . and I have the advantage of hindsight.  At times it is absolutely necessary for the old to be done away with so that the new can be established.  The process is usually painful and confusing, and it certainly isn’t pretty . . .  but the Builder always  has a plan . . .

pain

To those experiencing anguish of soul . . . pain of body . . . torment of mind . . . assault of emotions . . . He knows you, and He loves you . . .

Nothing is wasted . . .

waiting

How did His friends and family make it through that middle day . . . the day before He came out of the cave?  Did they wander around in a daze, still unable to believe what they had witnessed just a few hours earlier?  Were they able to eat or sleep or think of anything else?

And so we wait for sunrise . . .
