This afternoon as I approached the crossroads leading to my house, feeling somewhat weary from the work week, this spectacular sight appeared right in front of me! I pulled over into the parking lot of a realtor and grabbed my camera. I just breathed out and took in the scene. The weekend has begun . . .

During my work travels this week, I have been noticing the peeking out of yellow buds here and there. I was especially drawn to the ones growing in the flower beds of my friend JP . . . leaves so green and lush, flowers just beginning to bloom rich gold. So on this sunshine day, I captured a few of the early daffodils . . . I can hardly wait until the whole group joins in . . .

The word means desolate; bare . . . brutally simple. When we observe such a state, it shakes us, shocks us even. Sometimes our inner man feels the desolation, the nudity of our own soul in all its need . . . but is it a bad thing to be forced to recognize the brutal simplicity of living? The uncomplicated, the unsophisticated, the easily understood . . . do we have difficulty finding satisfaction and contentment in these things? Dare to be simple-minded . . .

Just a few quirky things that brought a smile to my face during a recent trip to Canton, TX . . .

I have a friend who lives on the lake, and the other day she was so gracious to let me and a friend hang out at her place waiting for the day’s setting sun. We were not disappointed . . . orange brilliance, rippling waves of gold, and a little duck friend to share the sight. After chilling in the bracing winds around the water, she made some of the best hot chocolate to warm us up. Thanks, friend!
