Several years ago when I was experiencing some of the worst heart-pain of my life, I would drive to the local Sonic, park, and get a large iced tea. As I sat there, I watched the demolition of an old dorm across the street. For weeks I watched as a wrecking ball slammed into this building over and over again until it was reduced to a pile of rubble. I remember thinking “that’s my life right now”. Eventually the dump trucks hauled away all the old building material and the land was made into something entirely new, a parking lot.
Now I am witnessing another large collection of buildings being razed . . . and I have the advantage of hindsight. At times it is absolutely necessary for the old to be done away with so that the new can be established. The process is usually painful and confusing, and it certainly isn’t pretty . . . but the Builder always has a plan . . .
So if you are twisted and broken . . . to everything there is a season . . .
a time to break down and a time to build up . . .
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
